Quality Assurance Specialist
Summary:
Under minimal supervision, the Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist has the overall responsibility to ensure that the company’s Quality programs are implemented and in compliance with all regulatory, company and client requirements, and to provide Quality direction, consultation and support to the client site(s).
Responsibilities:
Responsible for planning and implementing quality systems and processes to accomplish the strategic goals of the organization; completes process measurement initiatives, including scorecards and other metrics. Identifies and promotes industry best practices; shares best practices across the company
Provides technical support to ensure that customer requirements, codes, specifications and Quality Standards are met; ensures the promotion of awareness of customer requirement throughout the organization
Ensures that the company's services, processes, procedures, and facilities are in compliance with the company's Quality Management System and policies, and are reviewed and updated.
Maintains the EMC Corporate Program (Including Manuals, Forms, Policies, Procedures, work Instructions) and Tracking of revision history; maintains the Approved Supplier List and Vendor files including maintenance of the vendors qualifications
Leads both Internal and External Audits. Provides advice and guidance to procurement staff with respect to the interpretation of supplier audit results and the impact on purchasing strategies, as well as the application and interpretation of QA programs
May provide mentorship, training and support for Quality Assurance and Document Control personnel
Job Qualifications:
Diploma or Degree in Engineering preferred. Related education in Construction Management, Project Management or discipline related certificate (Red Seal or other) will also be considered
Electrical and/or mechanical/civil engineering experience is an asset.
5-7+ years of position-related experience (nuclear, or closely related industry)
NCA-4000/NQA-1 or equivalent qualifications required
Thorough understanding of CSA N286, ISO 9001, CSA N299/Z299, N285, B51, B52, Ontario Electric Code. Knowledge of ASME Series of Codes, CSA Series of Codes.
Experience in leading audits
Superior problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to interact positively with all levels inside and outside the organization and in a team environment, while managing employees
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively organize and present material to stakeholders and management.
Thorough knowledge of nuclear power plant systems, components and interrelated activities
